I was there but what did I miss
that caused me to revert back to this
the first of many things to
the last of everything
traces of poison on my lips
from a single harmless kiss
that left me feeling like I was trapped
in a state of abyss
following a trail of betrayal that led
me to a deep well that I drew from
to quench my wanting parched thirst
the water was bitterly tainted
with a curse
stripped of my golden sash and my
last rite of passage to be first
entrusted to me from the day of
my birth my name came from
an angel dressed in white
disguised as a nurse
time will tell on everyone and everything
like sacred secrets embedded in clusters
of a vintage gold wedding ring
wrongfully ticketed on a train
falling into worser things
from people pulling on my wings
angry enough to turn back and
attack, in need of more than ten fingers
to count the lesions on my back
clasping a golden Madona
trapped in brass
fragile memorandums I see in
wood framed glass, on the wall
a clock ticking away my innocent past
closing my eyes and wishing
that the moment would last
long enough for the dead to
rise with the blessing at hand
