There was a time that I knew that
The struggle wouldn’t last
Though it kept on going with everyday
that past
There was a time when I packed in a
black trash bag
Containing my belongings and all things
that I had
Walking the streets in torn tattered rags
never once did I feel bad
Never once did I reach back for things
that I had
I lit a match behind me and burned down
my past literally
I ate a burger from the trash
swepted and spread the ash
My mind was ticking away to a blast
what I learned in life thus far
Depended on who was teaching the class
half empty or half full?
Well that depended on who was holding
the glass
Deep in the depth of my mind I knew that
these times wouldn’t last
I bandaged my wounds and at my pain
I stood up and laughed
I went from what I had to what I lost
to a peasant from being a boss
In no way does this story define me
it just reminds me of what’s behind me
Once you’ve been there no matter where
Life takes you
you’re never lost
