Living in a society,
where sex sells more than creativity.
Where women fell wronged,
and as if they're in captivity.
A society where races,
fell discriminated constantly.
Where the wrongs of society,
get more air then those of good quality.
Where black on black crime,
is paraded as front page news.
And any murder between races,
causes race riots to ensue.
Where people get hateful,
and despise for no reason.
Where stating your opinion,
can actually be called treason.
Where just being my color,
can be a reason to be attacked.
And I can go to jail,
if I decide to attack back.
Where people are taught to fear me.
Because of the style I wear,
they should always be weary.
Because hoodies aren't comfortable,
and they don't keep your warm.
They're apparently just worn,
by those who wish you harm.
Where that lighter guy over there,
is less likely to chop your head off.
Though he could be a Dahmer,
or schizo set of by a cough.
Stereotypes rule a nation,
that's covered in discrimination.
To keep people down,
and keep the rich in their plantations.
Metaphorically,
middle class works for them.
The gap getting bigger,
and our future looks dim.
No rise in sight,
but we can see our plight.
We can see our failures,
and our end in fright.
We try and we try,
but complacency now common.
What happened to that fight,
that this country was built on?
What happened to those movements,
that got people going.
What happened to the politicians,
who kept our nations growing.
We look to each other,
to make the first move.
But if we keep waiting,
then everyone will lose.
