From below the earth I took root
and began to sprout
At times it was difficult to
reach and find the sunlight
There were bad days, cold nights
and windy storms
through it all I grew and began
to develop arms
It was shakey times never knowing
when I would be cut down and fall
just to rot into the ground
As I grew older I got stronger
and stronger
Now with my limbs deftly sturdy
and with the Spring and Summer
breeze, I was now fully developed
with brillant colored leaves
Now I have grown old, the bark
of armor now stripped away exposing
me to the cold
My arms are now bent and
breaking away day by day
Soon I will be just a hollow
of myself and as the burden of death
bends me to the ground, I look to
the sky and with a smile I
gleefuly say thank you I
truly enjoyed my stay
