That feeling whenever I hear that “N” word
When it is spoken out
It feels like an Ebola laced sword
Ripping its way inwards
I am entangled by this abuse
Like a bird caught within the vines of an un-kept vineyard
Living a non-linear life opposite of Selma
I pray for Good Times like Thelma
But then again the reverend is negligent to the spiritual
But indulged in the revenue
That “N” word banned us from equality
That “N” word arrived on American shores
With an eternal lease and leash on the African
You continue to use this term
Claimed it as yours
Redefined it with humor
But that “N” word is a mind decaying tumor
The simple tongued master couldn’t pronounce NEGRO
So it was formed as NEGGOR
That “N” word lol
Something we have learned to love and hate
Something that stains struggle and prosperity on our face
