"I Am A Survivor"
I've went through tragedies,
Some that'd buckle you at the knees.
This isn't about pity,
Can I have a moment of your time, please?
I was sexually abused at five,
And many more times as a child.
By the time I hit my teens,
I had become completely buck wild.
I was a drug addict,
I caused my family so much pain.
I was popping pills and smoking meth,
Let's not forget my love for crack cocaine.
The abuse of men had scarred me,
From both trusted and strangers.
I had become damaged goods,
Putting myself in harms danger.
Married what I knew best,
An abusive drug addicted man.
If he said jump, I asked how high,
I was so scared when he would raise his hand.
He too raped me,
He tried taking my life.
I remember several times,
To my neck, he'd hold the knife.
My lifestyle was insane,
Living just to find my next fix.
During the abuse and addiction,
My kids got caught up in the mix.
Thank God for my parents,
They were my kids saving grace.
I was a lost cause,
In this world, I had no place.
Many overdoses later,
I was damaged to the core.
But God loved me so much,
He showed me I was worthy of so much more.
He gave me another chance,
Today, I'm living clean.
No longer needing a man's love,
My true beauty I've finally seen.
Through my struggles,
Gods using as my testimony.
Through His Grace and Love,
I'm able to better serve Thee.
I once was a victim,
But a victim I am no more.
I'm a survivor through The Blood of Jesus Christ,
Now I spread my wings and soar.
