Spoken word is to poetry what battle rap is to hip hop

The free styles of openly sparring brain matter in an arena of like minds

Reaching down into banks of memory for valuable gems like that dope line you conjured a while ago but it fits this moment

Moving the crowd on one accord, like car tunes, with punch after punch as if your combinations are gut wrenching to be heard

Spoken word is hip hop

Battle rap is poetry

It's crazy because I wouldn't dare do either but I admire them both.

I'm really feeling this joint. I have much respect for spoken word artists. The first spoken piece I ever heard was Last Poets' "White Thighs" and I never forgot that moment. Listening to Loaded Lux vs Calicoe also made an indelible impression on me. Well stated thoughts, G.Moore
