in the forest of despair,
the evergreen of hope, firmly rooted,
stands in the midst of the "saws" of injustice;
her tried body having withstood
the fires of debilitation
and devastating mud slides
of eroding rights and freedoms.
like her ancestors---rooted by the waters,
she cannot and will not
be moved by the political fungi of deciet
nor the racist demons of death.
though in its resting shade,
hopelessness may linger for a while,
the evergreen of hope
continues to raise its head
to the nourishing sunshine above---transpiring
as she drops her seeds to the fertile ground below:
innately impregnating the soil of liberation.
