Funny how when you look for love, you're usually looking in the wrong place
And when you really find it, it is usually a familiar face.
Often times it's all because, you were simply looking too hard.
And after you have opened your eyes, it's THANK YOU LORD.
But I have come to realize, maybe it was me all along
And if I'm not right this time, I can live with being wrong.
One life for one love, is all that I now have to share
So I say this to those, who really do or do not care
Should I live your life or let you attempt to live mine
Place yourself in my shoes, the feeling you can’t define
On the coldest nights, did you offer a coat to shield my back
When things got tough, did you extend a hand to shorten the slack
We’re only two questions in, yet I’m probably faced with two No’s
So I guess I’ll continue, just to see how your luck goes
As I wept through the day, were you a comforting shoulder
The same tears I cried, I now hide because I’m older
But you never stopped to notice or even ask about my feelings
You haven’t spoke a word to assist my process of healing
So My smile is My smile, and I can’t hide it to suit you
You can suit yourself, and believe what you want to be true
The past is the past, and if the present is a gift
I present to you the future, a place I am to drift
And if you ever find me there, give grace and wish me well
For I am in a place of happiness, and forever I am to dwell.
