Sunlit clouds settle on the horizon
Reaching across the sky as far as
The eyes can see
Looking like fire caught in a still photo.
Using my sun visor isn't really helping
The sun fights to stay in the sky
As my eyes take refuge behind
Summer time shades.
It's a crisp 35 degree evening
As I look at one of God's wonders
Ahead of me.
I can see the reflection of the clouds
Rolling over my shades like
Movie credits on the silver screen.
I hear your voice in my ear
Tenderly call my name,
Humbly I smile and return the same.
Wishing you were here with me
To share this sunset so lovely.
The heat, though temporarily comforting
Is welcomed just the same.
Clouds move about the sky
Like ships at sea headed in the same direction
But with individual destinies.
Looking at the sunset helps me heal
From the stresses of the day.
Pulling up in my driveway,
I'm relieved to be home.
The warmth greets me with a hug
As the last of my worries
Disappear into the rug.
I submit to the safe haven of my comforter....
My bed.
Wished you were here.
