Looking through a child’s eyes
The need to be loved and envied
Hungry for knowledge like college
Eager to feed the why's within me
Through life I speed never knowing
What passes me and what I pass
Going too fast to see the blades in the grass
Not paying attention and I end up on my ass
Again and again and again
But I get up stronger
Hope to stand up a little longer
Because I know the evil that awaits me
If I slip and fall whether small or tall
It still hurts the same....
Looking through a child’s eyes
Eager to make a mark on the world
So my name can be remembered
More than for the fact that I was born in December
Maybe because I helped the one who helped me…
When life was low for me or them
Even if it be foe or friend
I can’t begin to acknowledge the world around me
Until I know the one before me
Move the people that tore me
From inside and out
When they thought I had doubts about …
Lookin’ through a child’s eyes
Filled with the need to be embraced
To understand this place
Where it seems love has been erased
One side speaks of peace
No side keeping the pace
Of the race that’s down to a dwindle
All because we tryin’ to swindle
God out of a good life
But not willing to pay the price
Because hatred is out of bounds
What do we do now?
Lookin through a child’s eyes
Love will be in place
Hatred will be erased
Brothers and sistas will hold hands
Like they did in Candyland
Wrong will turn right
Mamas will sleep at night
We will win the fight
There will be no more war
People will answer the door
And won’t take it no more!
Lookin through a child’s eyes….
