Looking back in time
I could see
What a week in the life
Was like for me.
With days and nights filled
Mondays and Tuesdays started out
With homework, chores and choir rehearsal
And something to talk about.
Post weekend happenings
And plans for days to come
Upcoming tests and track practice
Just to name some.
Wednesdays and Thursdays
Meant you were almost there
Waiting for the weekend
With a daydreaming stare.
Homework-less Fridays
Helped lighten the load
Easing mindset transitions
Before getting on the road.
It's Saturday morning
Just before the meet
I stretch, loosen up
And tie up my cleats.
Bang!! I'm off
And setting the pace
With victory in sight
I win my race.
Saturday afternoon comes to close
As spectators cheer and clap
Looking on with smiled faces
Our team takes the victory lap.
Handshakes, hugs and waived hands
Silently fade as we say goodbye
Allowing the evening to emerge
From a sun settled sky.
Sunday mornings
At my grandma's church
Brings forth the word
And my self an inward search.
The PBR and Wild America
We're an interesting and educational watch
Because Sunday night television
Always belonged to pop.
A week in the life.
