I redefined
my concept of time
to make sense of my life intellectually.
Now viewed
as a thing that moves
along a vector, having trajectory.
Time does not run around faces
nor oscillate in enclosed glass cases.
Yes, time does neither of those things.
Time does not sound alarms nor ring.
Time is a space
where consequence takes place,
a medium in motion
of immeasurable pace,
a swollen river –
you can choose to white water raft
or drown
trying to hold onto the baggage of your past –
letting time carry you along as a hearse…
But being carried is not living;
our inaction is a curse!
We are forever immersed in time’s depths –
gasping for breaths,
but when we still it allows us to reflect.
Yet time will leave no one
and no thing behind.
To escape its embrace
some make haste to flat line.
“But it’s not my time!”
There are no truer words.
Time possesses us.
Us having time seems absurd
to a rational mind –
mine embracing its vow
to love, empathize, speak my truth in the now!
For time may cast me to its banks
without any notice.
