In days of past times
There used to be
Negative reviews
Made by folks
About me.
Some whispered
Some did not.
Their just deserved
Is what they got.
Little did they know
You reap what you sow
You see, God don't like ugly.
Those who taunt and tease
Are usually the ones
Who'll occasionally bleed.
Being on both sides of this coin
Is how I got through.
Lessons learned!
Superficial wounds fade into
Scars that eventually become
Thickened skin.
When life's infractions led to
Misguided reactions
I learned to let go
And let Karma handle
My transactions.
In days of present times
Reflections temporarily
Hold me in stasis
A constant reminder
Of how things were
Keeping pain's memory at bay
My thickened skin protects me
Like a momma bear.
A whistle and a snap
Brings me back to Realityville.
It's time to move on
An exhale of relief
Completes the cycle
I smile with a renewed
Sense of my day as
A welcomed hug
Sets the stage for
An exceptional evening
Now it's our time.
Fade to sunset.
