Words

He said sticks and stones would break your bones

But, his words, his words  could not

He never told you

that the words from someone you love

could seep its way beneath your flesh and tickle your bones

He failed to mention

how his sweet smooth diction of contradictions

would scratch beneath your epidermis

Inflicting his sinister misdemeanors causing you to ache

His bullet-like words pierced its way through your flesh

Latched onto your tongue like taste buds but left you tasteless

It ricochet the back of your molars

Became muffled in your esophagus, while they danced on your tonsils

His words creep its way into your veins

Spread its gunshot residue of broken syllables around your cherry wine heart

The way his words converted itself into small toxic molecules

Left no room for the love to circulate the tissues of issues i...

Knock, Knock!

I'm always the one who knocks on the door

Screaming, "let me in"

More like whispering instead 

But, no response is ever granted 

I await for your footsteps to press closer 

Hoping to see a glimpse of your shadow in the light move swift at the bottom crease 

Gasping every time I hear the jingling of keys thinking it's yours but it isn't, it's your neighbors  

My face lights up with amusement hearing the latch on the other side opening

But, my ears heard wrong 

It was the sound of the latch closing out our love

Much like, an unresponsive one 

I squish my eyes to look through your peephole thinking I'll be able to play peek-a-boo with your shadows as they pass by 

But, I'm stuck looking at the lid that hides the very nature of  your being 

Cocoon

Reminiscing on the time we once held hands together with eyes that lit up like fireflies
We never quite understood how one handshake changed our lives
Late night talks, walks, drives 
Stories that lasted as long as the summer nights
And, hugs that felt like the warmth needed during a cold winter night

Time flew and before we knew it our friendship shed its cocoon
And, I became the butterfly I once knew 
We were no longer confined in our shell, we were free to blossom
But, you tugged at each one of my wings when it was necessary to keep me put
And, pulled out the ones that hindered me to fly

You controlled me with kisses of cruel intentions
To keep me in your corner, fixed and unmoved 
Just so you could play with me when you were bored
And, threw me back in when you were threw 

With each time you plucked my wings you left me to drown in your sick twisted love

Unrequited

                  Unrequited 

He gets under my skin

Caresses me 

Ties me up

With his beautiful words of reason 

He whispers sweet nothing's 

That sing an angelic lullaby 

He waits for my objections 

But, kisses me with his cruel intentions

Now, I'm left with questions 

---

Was it his simple gaze? 

Filled with a lustful look...

Or, his kiss, and touch?

That always lingers...

What moved me to be so easily "Wooed?"

It was his sinful look

And, just like that 

My body was shook...

Unrequited is his name

And, my heart was never the same
