In ancient naval nautical battles
Often with huge, heavily manned
And armed vessels, slugging it out
Often in great formations
With numerous
fearsome, powerful arsenals,
With awesome, horrendous,
even fiendish arrays
Of weapons in applications,
a la carte
War is after all,
hell…
Greek fire
Was like napalm.
On land and later
in the air
Atomic bombs, noxious chemicals,
Even deadly diseases
are employed
And with tactical maneuvers,
Crossing the T
…blitzkrieg
And firestorms,
where entire cities
Are incinerated,
Came to be,
It seems
even being hateful
Has become an art.
Apparently, we have learned
How to perfectly destroy
Each other’s strength,
If we would have used our energies
To help cure …each other’s weakness
We would be for us …and not fighting them.
The science of war
We have learned well
Evidently not
Well enough to know
When to stop,
We must pay and as the price
Continually escalates,
Eventually we will learn when
To quit playing the game
Or lose it all,
…for what gains?
