shadow ...of man

CATEGORY

just different

i am standing in my own shadow

putting together

all the scattered pieces of my life

i am in more than usual disarray

i see there’s plenty of

misdirection and confusion

to go around,

with a little love and support

from a dear friend

i have stopped smoking

and cut back on drinking

i am applying myself,

and reaching forward

if only in my mind

as history teaches us

the only thing you need to know

about time is when it’s running out

and it’s got me sure enough thinking

to get off this carousel that’s spinning out of control

and find out what it’s all about

it’s the children and we’ve got to give

the right message to them

it’s so long overdue

mine+mine, me+me+me won’t do

anything, but to prolong the agony

we all are going thru

maybe you cannot understand that you are no longer a spectator to life

but a participant to the continuation of the exploitation of our bodies and minds

if you don’t get up off your seat

and do something

about nuclear madness,

chemical poisoning, global warming

war, famine, disease and poverty

this world ain’t going to go nowhere

if you think that we can escape in a rocket ship to space forget it

you will find the back of the bus

never went away it just got bumped to the rear of another bus

life

and if you do not

believe it to be important to safeguard, cherish and protect life

then, you would have abandoned

your sacred duty to live

and you are condemned to,

with all who come behind you to

death

die in the fast+life or in slow motion

poisoning your passion

until all that is left

of you and yours

is the

…shadow of man…
