Everyone Will Know

Rich brown skin, hair that of wool. Eyes so bright, and a heart so full.
Educated and creative. Mindful and Strong. They call you weak, I say they're wrong. A lover, a father, a provider and it shows. You are a black man, and everyone will know.

When life throws you lemons, I will make you lemonade. I will let you know that you are needed and that won't fade. You are a wise being with knowledge that continues to grow. You are great man and everyone will know.

I will treat you like the black man you are. With dignity and respect you deserve. I am your woman, the woman spoken of in Proverbs 31. My love for you is easy to show, because you are my man and everyone will know.

And with the help of God, we will both grow. May we be quick to give, and slow to take. May our faith move mountains and hard to shake. Renew our mind, body, and our soul. For you are a man of God and everyone will know.

May our strength be magnified by the mutual love for each other. We both have what the other need and we wont find that in another. We can pull out all of the dirt and grim. All the sin and slim. You are a part of me, and everyone will know.

You build the house, and in return, I will make you a home. You work hard and I appreciate the love you have shown. I will love you like you never been loved, and care like no one has ever cared. You are a man, and everyone will know.

And if they try to kill you, you will never die. Your spirit is with my spirit, so let them try. You are black man and everyone will know. You are to be loved and respected. Dignified and accepted. For you are my man, I'll let everyone will know.

How Can I Tell You

You say, "Be real for a minute." Be real for a minute?
Ok...I love you. But how can I tell you that when I don't know you?
How can I tell you I want to spend the rest of my life with you?
No, eternity with you. How can I express that you make me
feel like a diabetic in a candy store. All these goodies
and I cant have any. Just one little taste of the
sweetness to please my senses but
I'll risk killing me. How can I explain that the
reason I fall short of breath every time

I Am A Writer (But I Want You Anyway)

I'm a writer. That's what I do, I write.
So allow me to write with the intentions of showing my love.
I want you to be able to grasp every word
and every meaning in its rawest form
In the purity of its most natural state
I need you to hear me and sort of fear me
Understand me in all my phases,
And don't let them faze you.
Understand that I bleed when you cut me
Words that slice and actions delve deep into my womb
Piercing my soul, weakening my spirit when you go.
But I want you anyway.
Understand tears flow down my cheeks
When you reach in and rip out my
Most prize possession when you go, and you go.
But I want you anyway.
I wish to capture your heart and place it under glass
For safe keeping, place it on my dresser for admiration
I want to bask in its light and tie my heart strings to yours
And never let it...

Bell of the Ball

I am scared to love again, walking through a tunnel,
and I can't see the light.
It's a constant battle and I'm struggling with the fight.
Rawness is rare, but it's all that I had.
Love to share, and honesty in the bag.
My faith has slowly faded away, out of my mind.
Feeling crazy and sedated, with no hope left for me to find.
Fool me once, shame on you, and if it was for you,
forgiving was an easy thing to do.
Fool me twice shame on me.
There is something to be said when
forgiving yourself doesn't come easy.
But what's to be said for playing a fool the third time?
A moment of insanity lasting a lifetime.
I felt so sure before, I had it all.
A queen in the making, I was the bell of the ball.
The bell of the moon and the bell of the church.
