Within You

As I walked along in search of the sun

I encountered many beautiful faces speaking many beautiful languages

Falling ever in love with horizons far beyond; footsteps lost in the poetry of where He had gone

Then unto me came the smile of a sunflower with darkness in its eyes

Why I am not waiting to see if and when will the stars align

Why I am not cursing from dusk till dawn

Because even in the absolute pitch of night I can feel Him

Dispreading my eyelids like petals that have sworn He’s abandoned

I do not know why so many continue staring out in vain

When God is right there within...

Just Rhyming

Incapable of combating this insomnia of poetic rumblings

Counting sheep verbally - verily to no avail a remedy

For diaries and 2am entries

The stories of lost queens

Scripting wings for earthbound entities soaring on tears of a swan down stream

Only the lord knows

Why I’m cursed to know why the caged bird sings

Of what a sleepless adder dreams upon the throne of last kings

Sipping from the bittersweet chalice of royalty

How the poison of neither your enemies nor me has nearly the potency

Of a blade tinged with the jubilee of those we hold dearly

Yesterday's Too Slow

Reclined, recalling yesterday’s cheers

Staring ahead while looking back on, today nobody's here

Awe-inspiring sprints throughout became somber relays
Footfalls to my swaggering haste, struggling at a tortoise-like pace
The hair (hare) faded with each ache

Inevitably time surpassed, churning steadfast
Over the hills and on along

Why nothing left behind has ever caught up

Tho' memories have often come close

Girl Next Door

The real her is priceless
but the girl next door is consumed by society's infection
An unhealthy dose of "why aren't I good enough?"
Sicken with questions unjust
she imagines her unnoticed physical after the injections
just to satisfy a man's erection
that only pays attention to the perception
of models of perfection
plastered on magazines, tv screens & billboards
She too just wants them to look towards,
and no longer away
Unfortunately
the girl next door under these symptoms sadly believes
she needs to be able to afford
when true beauty's really something you can't pay for

Parents

From that early night I was born
to that late eve I was conceived
Momma was in love with a man
who having family he didn't believe
Walked out the morn’ he learned she was pregnant
revealing to her that he wasn't quite that loveable man so pleasant
Oh how hard liquor and gentle charm hinders what you see
The good in a ni**a you perceive
It was just her luck
Underage and somehow she snuck out and in to crowded Club Lust
Sharing drinks with a mature stranger gripping her butt
Momma willingly dances
Slowly tempted into giving him some
That’s why he’s mixing and giving her um, more consenting cups
then realizing what he wants she wises and shuts

“Nah, you gotta be my man hun” with laughter
so for the digits he ask her and begins the chase after
super smooth this bastard
Many months later, after many honest conversations loos...

Old Relations

Distant moves in search of something real
The hardest part about love, loving someone who doesn't feel
Shared a likeness so ideal that made its beauty so surreal
Face to face, day to day so amazed at what time ultimately reveals
Actions unbecoming of thoughts that never he'll
Alive, tho not all survives an emotional ordeal
Scars, she plasters on fake smiles to conceal
Artificial laughs and bogus, joyous cartwheels
Spinning in false zeal, how she hopelessly deals
Bandaged heart, is she really ready to peal?
You can open new relations but the old ones never heal

Pretend

Lights, camera, action

She's so pretty dancing on set
However when the director calls cut
She leaves
She runs from behind the spotlight

Ugly as ugh...

Make up and wardrobe

Dresser room vanity
Everything about her is made up

Fake smiles
A delightful script portraying her as woman worthwhile

Life & Style

Pretend, pretend, pretend
She's always acting beautiful for friends
until the very last scene ends

A joke
A comedy
Her real life drama’s a genre of horror

But when the film rolls on
She again becomes the wonderful actress we all love

Acting for the world

Real

A real loser

Pretend it ain't real
When you really lose her

Aggressive,
Real abusive

Pensive,
She’s really passive

She really forgives so whats real she relives

The real her

She’s really tired of what really shouldn’t hurt

Pretend it ain't real

She smiles but when you hit her
That pain she keeps hidden really hurts

The fact that you really don't care really makes it worse

Real is what she deserves

Real is really what she’s worth
But far from real is all you can really serve

It's really sad

When real good girls
With that really really good love
Settle for the ones with that real bad love

When you're a star
They'll do anything, they love you
but once the light dims, the shines gone
and you drift into the dark alone
They look away
Nobody's around when the spotlight fades
What a shame
Use to be friends face to face
Use to take them out their world to celebrate
Grant every wish
Oh how quick does admiration change
Now it's f**k you
when they use to look up to you
I guess nobody cares when they can't see you

Old brushes

Set in old dusk

Rises and strokes dawn strange to new days

Picture birds wistful chirping

Despairing serenades swirl windows open

Lonesome yawns

See an empty bed capture her awaken to much of the same

Sadness a brewin’

Depict tissues like umbrellas for tears trickle like rain

Without love, what life colors

Woeful Grays swept over the Sweetest Blues

Dreams daubed over the hills

However vast glass views remain behind closed drapes
