The heat from the fire
The smell of your skin
The smell of burning condemned houses
The hustlers on the corner
The hos walking the stroll
The corner store selling loosies
The fights in the alley
The smell of cooking...BBQ or a pot greens in the cold months a funky pot of chitterlings
These are the smells and sights in my Hood
The hate, love, fury, frustration, strength, sorrow, joy, tolerance, endurance,
All of these thing lie within
The look of disappointment in her eyes drives a brother to live a dangerous life
The look of disappointment in his eyes drives a sister to set her morals aside
The neighborhood bonds them they fight for it they live it
The family they have some supportive, some thieves, some addicts
The killings, the parties, the young girl raising babies
The beatings, the cursing
The hood life is crazy
So much hate and anger rises from here
A lot forget to see all the love that has survived here
The love of a hood boy and hood girl
Rising from the heartache and the hard hood life
Pushing each other to complete their goals
Not leaving the hood for good
But getting out is the main goal
No matter the address the hood will live in their souls
The colorful people, the history, the food, happiness, even the evil and pain is something they will never forget
The love they share is stronger than most
Not all love can endure the hood life because it can be a cold harsh world
The hood is a world like no other it can and produce some of the strongest sisters and brothers
When you see a young couple and the only thing you see is
HOOD
HO
HUSTLER
STREETS
Try to look past the urban dress and swinging dreads
Look in their eyes and you might just see something incredible...
A hood love that
SURVIVED.
