Moment of Silence

On days like this,

as I awake from a deep sleep,

so peaceful and reneving,

I lie in bed and think of nothing at all.

6 days of early mornings and late nights,

struggling just to pay the bills, helping with homework,

cooking, cleaning messes, and doing laundry

were all distant memories, trapped in the 

depths of a dream I never dreamt.

Today is a new day...

On this day,

I am refreshed, and my spirit is reborn.

With no knowledge or plans for the day, 

I will just lie here, eyes closed, beneath the warm rays

and gusts of wind brushing warm kisses across my cheek. 

Today is a good day...

On this day, 

the sounds of tiny footsteps and laughter between chewing 

make me smile and appreciative of all that I have.

tells me they have all they need.

My virginity was stolen, only darkness and pain remains. Taken deep into the night, by a stranger named Dewayne. My mind hydroplaned in acid rain on the day his bastard child came. I WAS ASHAMED...I grimace at my body, it will never be the same. Is it even mine? Is it he or I to blame? Memories surge through my body, exploding grenades into my veins. I look up to the sky. God is that you? Is this the wrath that every Christian goes through? Being beaten til I'm bloody, black and blue? By the ones sent to protect and serve? Little white lies made me feel like I could fly. Like I was finally alive. Like true love had arrived. The high was so powerful, so amazing, so passionate with heat.
