... I prayed
last night, I prayed
for all of us. I prayed
for God to pull the wool
from our eyes so we can see
beauty in being Black.

to bless our subconscious
so we can read between the
lines of verbal and visual
criticism to consciously rebuke
stereotypical concepts.

to give vision
to our third-eye
so we can see and
recognize how others behold
beauty in being black.
and their medical endeavor
to capture that

to plant the seed
of hunger in us so
we embrace our race
rather than run from
the skin we're in.

to help us seek soul deep within
to attain our ancestral roots to
once again find pride in being
beautifully black

to nurture buried desire to
admire our God given assets
to impregnate our minds with
the importance of loving one another
so we can give birth to the key that
opens the door to HIM and are
truly overcoming.
