He said sticks and stones would break your bones
But, his words, his words could not
He never told you
that the words from someone you love
could seep its way beneath your flesh and tickle your bones
He failed to mention
how his sweet smooth diction of contradictions
would scratch beneath your epidermis
Inflicting his sinister misdemeanors causing you to ache
His bullet-like words pierced its way through your flesh
Latched onto your tongue like taste buds but left you tasteless
It ricochet the back of your molars
Became muffled in your esophagus, while they danced on your tonsils
His words creep its way into your veins
Spread its gunshot residue of broken syllables around your cherry wine heart
The way his words converted itself into small toxic molecules
Left no room for the love to circulate the tissues of issues in your body
You were right to believe that your skin would protect you
from his hideous words of sweet nothings
But, you neglected to realized how sensitive your own flesh was to the word “love”
One gunshot syllable strike your beating heart
Now, now you're left with words falling out
