Proud To Be Your Choice

Or should I say, yo’ motha ***in’ choice
Your so-called, self-proclaim leaders of the community are not in the community
I see them only on your news, when there is news
And your news only reports that which gives you a boost and which usually highlights that which give us the blues
While our true leadership stands on the front line, victims of those same blues
Boisterous, yet, in a voice seldom heard,
Not because of his bark, nor because he has no bite,
But his government is inattentive to his fight
And yes we can, and yes we will
But that is as a whole and I am speaking of the communities in this great land

We need to build representatives that will be that bridge,
That liaison between the government, the leaders, and the people of the community
Until then, the report shall show our suffrage,
Whereas all shall be privileged to see intent, yet the reports shall show that nothing has been done
And again, yes we can, and we are behind this man
Yet, if this land were my land, I’d lend a hand
Whereas the rich can still be rich, yet the poor shall have chance.
When you build in our community, build affordable housing, not future projects
When you build business, build corporations, not retail and fast food joints,
Build so that your employees, our strugglers in the community, can earn decent wages, with opportunity for growth.
And why do the successful get zero percent financing and zero down, and those of us whom struggle get the highrates,
Where is chance
I’d pay my bills if I were not being ***ed by you and the government
And thanks for the new schools in our communities
Did you build learning institutions with my lotto donations
Or did you build prisons or something for our children to get used too
And got damn, did you raise the price of the movies too
What happened to affordable entertainment
Did that die with chance too
Is life work, eat cheap, sub-par groceries, sleep then back to work
Same old , is this what a have to look forward too
Followed by routine weekends with not a damn thing affordable to look forward to
I am tired of baggin’ my own
What the *** is fairness and equality
In a land of covert discrimination
Thanks for the President
But the hood needs love too
And I am just saying
I got one foot off the ground
Can you interlock your fingers and give a lift to those struggling to make a difference
I know you can, and yes we motha ***in’ can
