Death is an Epidemic
No time to create a solid family bond
All that’s left is to pick-up the guns
Young boys, young girls just hanging out
Not caring what life is all about
The violence amidst lies with the youths
No role models to tell them what to do
Mouths filled with words unknown
Much of that teaching done in the home
Broken homes and dysfunctional families
With youths today building their own armies
No fear of death or even dying
No goals set, therefore no need for climbing
Is death or has death become an epidemic
Media shows violence that has no real logic
Shooting, stabbings, hording guns drugs and money
Standing on the corners wishing shorty was your honey
Next day in school then out without a GED
Roaming the streets thinking you’re free
Never being taught to think as an individual
Only living as if your choices are final
Is it because death is an epidemic, soon to come your way
Not believing in God so you don’t even pray
Blame the violence on the things you do
You had the gun and thought only to shoot
Is death an epidemic
When the violence has no logic
It really doesn’t have to be
There are other ways to live free
Death does not have to be an epidemic
Your friends you don’t have to mimic
Stopping the violence can start with you
Will open doors for you to be a mentor too
Work on family issues, church is within reach
Go and learn the stuff your parents should teach
Grounded morals, strength and guidance to develop faith
Just a token of knowledge to take the epidemic away
