Who are we anymore?
Just colors and memories
Of the day before.
We've lost touch of the reality
We created with paper dolls
Sh**
No wonder it was so easy
To break down our walls
But I painted you so neatly
Against my blank sheet
and
You pulled me from the novel
You forgot to read.
Today is just one more day
That we've lost touch
On paper we were miracles
But in real life we were never
Much.
And I will never forget the times
We shared.
All the sacrifices we made
Which have now disappeared
You wrote me out so long ago
Nothing's left but
Broken mirrors
Like a paper doll the water has
Withered you down
That never stopped us from meeting in the middle, somehow
Until now.
Who are we anymore?
Just fictional characters with paper hearts
Walking around with missing parts
You'll forever be a part of me
Somewhere in the clouds
A story resides
Two unfamiliar faces
Before there were impossible expectations
We relied solely on imagination
You drew me the way that was easiest,
Figuratively shapeless
I'm so much more you see
My dimensions many-
You have painted me with numbers
Leaving spaces where words
Should have been
There's no turning back though,
Your portrait's in pen.
Suppose I never poured my soul
Into the bowl you provided me
I never wanted to tell you that it looked
Unclean.
The fight was never fair
I came alive from your fairy tale
Declaring my place
Blowing away your paper doll face
