I told my realtor (he's black) when he searches for me,
That I don't want to 'B' diversity,
I want to 'C' diversity,
I've been the only brotha in the HOA,
Where neighbors smirk whenever they wave,
Giving our daughter the best we believed,
Wise thru her eyes when she sees,
Disparity, isolation, clarity,
Worried that she wouldn't do good in the hood,
Schools with brown teachers simply aren't rated as good,
Rather well, most "affluent" schools are rated swell,
With the students' and teachers' complexions mostly pale,
At home we can supplement,
But there would be arguments if we get,
Anything but a quality education,
See the conundrum we're facing?
It's not right,
Our problem is black and white,
The right choice is a must,
Like flying in a plane or riding in a bus,
Both will get her to where she needs to be,
The latter will have more people that look like her and me,
But it will be much less comfortable, convenient, and on time,
And those plane passengers might treat her unkind,
We won't complain, maybe we can find her a train,
A middle ground, with white, black, yellow, and brown,
Not the greatest, but the best to be found.
