She Who Birthed Me

Sitting here my birth mom ran across my mind How detached I have become of her since I was taken from and never given the chance to get to know Was this fair? Reminds me of the slavery mental Divide and conquer, even if it's your own blood Now I'm hitting 30 and know very little of the woman who pushed me through her Nile Valley so far from here I can't imagine the beauty that may have been my arrival Was I celebrated? Life Who is she? This wombman I never got to know Can I be blamed for the little to no contact When I grew to know so little Why is it so hard to pick up that phone and say hello What will we have to talk about? Would it be natural. Who knows But I do appreciate her, The wombman who BIRTHED me through her Nile Valley so far But I've never seen clearer than I do now Salute to who I am becoming Now I thank you
