lightness in the dark
Hey there my fellow poets! Blessings and greetings to you all for a prosperous new year. Life has been pretty rough for me since I last posted but nonetheless, as always with God's mercy and grace I've persevered. I'm finally at a point where I can start posting again. I so miss being on here and reading everyone's works. I hope that everything is going well for everyone. Let's keep the inklove flowing!

For the Love of My Child

For the love of my child
I would do anything.
From the moment the sun rises
Until the angel's voices sing.
You are my universe,
Where my true strength lies.
My child you are protected
Should anyone despise.
Regardless of other's opinions
Though they will rise,
No other will defend your honor
More than I.
God has granted me
An opportunity blessed to few,
An experience like no other
And no other like you.
One of a kind has been said
And is such duly noted.
You're more than anyone could ask for,
To your life I am devoted.
We will come across a lifetime
Of  challenge, change and doubt.
But know through it all,
The truth will see us throughout.
We may not always see eye to eye
Even when it matters the most,
Speak always from your heart
So naysayers can never boast.
I will guide you to the best of my abilities
And give you all I can,
Until the time comes
When I'm to let go of your hand.
Know that you are a blessing,
As with each day you bring a smile.
Always remember I will do anything
For the love of you, my child.

I can understand why you can relate to the poem a mother’s worry this poem shows how deeply a mother can love a child. Expressed well.

LP45 says:

Being only a step mother Harper, this poem came to me when my youngest grand child was born. He's now 2 and his dad sent me the pic of his mom and him touching foreheads a day or two after he was born and that image stuck with me and that's how this poem came about. Not to mention I know quite a few moms that have gone and are still going through that worry. You've just reassured the ones that need it, that they're not alone. Thank you again for your poem and thank you for reading mine. Peace and blessings.
