Journey by Yanna

It is graduation day y’all ain’t y’all happy;

All that hard work and self teaching getting

paid out fully;

All those hard times that were really never understood;

But that were balanced out with

Happy times and familyhood;

See I’m not here to keep you all day;

But I want to tell that
I prayed to my Lord God to

Help us walk through our fears of livelihood;

To help us walk through this journey

That has just appeared clearly;

Pray he keeps us safe

From the world that is out there;

a world that is not beautiful

But rewarding;

But as young adults we must fight

The adversity that seeks our path;

We are all going to walk down different paths;

Other may run just to get an inch ahead;

But if we ever get to cross paths

...

who me

I'm a strong women

A strong black women indeed

I typically don’t do

Or even say something

To hurt feelings but

To dig deep in their soul

And put together the bits and piece

Of the mysterious puzzle

That is placed before me

I am a lioness

Who guides her

Pride land when the head lion fails to do so

I am the mighty roar

That came from her mouth

So i can be heard

I was the darkness and

With every step i take

The floor panels lights up

Giving a sense of hope in the coming day

I'm the bass in a band

And with every note

It put the sound together to become one

I'M suppose to be a

woman strong in her submission

But there is a brick wall blocking

The views of my goals

At the end of this i'm just a women
