Breakin' Down The Flag

The blue is for the cops and then the red is for the blood,
the stars are from the whites that choose to drop us dead with slugs,
police these days compare to old school lynchin' from the trees,
'cause if you're poor and black the price is life; ain't nothin' free.

To be pinned down on concrete with a cop's knee in your chest,
some shots from out of nowhere quickly stops your need for breath,
or traffic stopped and starin' down a po-po's loaded nine,
the revolution's back and those like me just know it's time,

to prep the mind and body for what soon will be a war,
the real will rise when casings ring like phones and meet the floor,
from bullets being spit at you by cops and higher guys,
like sergeants and luitenants; light you up like fireflies.

Police are not the only ones to watch out for you see,
the ones that pull on triggers actually look like you and me,
the stars and stripes are on for life but who's the next to swerve,
into the lawmen's bullets who are sworn; protect and serve.
