I'm in a place
where all I can do
is wait
if I am patient
I'm likely to meet
my fate
sleep lightly
stay up late
come get me
meet me half way
on the beltway
buckle up
that's the
Safeway
a supermarket
in Cali
going to the ally
buy me some jeans
go home
cook some greens
in a crockpot
on the kitchen
countertop
no ham hocks
or smoked turkey wings
in my pot
I say not
crushed red pepper
like 'em hot
cornbread sweet
