oh perseverance

why do you keep chasing me

for as long as I have been in existence, your coherence

won't stop racing me

steadfast in my every step

even when my best foot is forward

can I at least catch my breath

and make another run towards it

in your last pursuit, I've tripped and taken a hard fall and fell into unconsciousness

awoken 

only to find I was seated in a circle with you while resting in the arms of determination

and receiving lessons from a teacher called patience

and when I reach my destination

you can join me in my success and celebration

oh stay with me perseverance
