I stood on the porch as he walked away.
With tears rolling down my eyes,
Pain in my heart,
And a shaking in my knees similar to an earthquake.
I let him down.
I tried to protect him,
We all tried. But it was inevitable.
They took his father away,
They brainwashed him with religion,
They took away the sense of freedom he had.
Or at least thought he had.
Saddened by the world and its vices of oppression and depression.
They took everything he had.
And now he's leaving,
Out the front gate and around the corner into manhood before he was ever ready.
With nothing but what he was taught,
And an item of who he was.
A red Tommy Oliver turbo power ranger toy
The one with the revolving head.
Not realizing its time for him to morph into a man.
They took everything he had.
And with tears in my eyes,
Pain in my heart,
And a shaking in my knees similar to an earthquake.
I said goodbye, to a hurt young man.
To a child who just wanted to understand.
I said goodbye to the innocence of a boy who just wanted to smile
No mattet how many teeth he had.
I said goodbye...... to the old me.
