it's so mush smoke and mirrors
how can you see, your reflection
do you remember who you use to be
do you know your purpose
does it make you cry or nervous
we are not immortal so die we must
some didn't fall far from the tree
laying somewhere in the middle
of the street lost out in the desert
heat so many miles on their feet
underneath the Passover, eyes
glassed over broke inside but
don't complain who can open up
a cloud and take out the rain
hard not to shake your head at
the shame so look away to see
no more door to door, sea to shore
look at the girl in the red and white
T Shirt she smiles a lot but inside
she hurts battered and bruised
from being roughed up by a dude
who thinks he's tough but not
tough enough because one day
someone will call his bluff
what would you do if you had
one last time to shine would
you pick up a glass and turn
water to wine or walk on it instead
they want us to believe that we
fell into sin but our history
tells us that we are stars and we
fell into skin it may be dark out
but there's light within, we are
not powerless we have the fire
to warm this cold world and
enough love o fill a black hole
those who are lost have not found out
who they are, who are you, are you a star?
