Realization of Love

The day I decided to bear my cross and walk with Christ was when I witnessed two young lovers no older than I renew their vows in holy matrimony amongst innocent strangers. My thoughts whispered wow. This is the type of love with a capital L I yearn to experience one day as I envision my bride walking down the aisle towards a man whose tears of joy becomes a river as you glide across the floor my eyes are in awe. Into my quivering fingers you place your hand in mine as I try my best to slide the ring that will forever bind us as one. I speak the words I Do in nine different languages, my heart escapes from captivity and now resides in a place of true love, but reality snaps me back to loneliness. A dream that felt as though it can go on forever turned into a nightmare as I realize that love is just a pipe dream. The day I lost faith in love was when I mistakenly gave my heart to you. You told me your story and I became enraptured by your unintentional seduction while my discontented heart spoke out of turn consistently. My actions were running wild trying to prove to you that I am worthy only to experience defeat after defeat as false kings stole you from me as I remained your jester. I was a fool in love with a person who only seen me as a joke. The day I began to hate love was when I lost myself. Departed from me my shadow fled. My pride returned to its prison of his own accord. My spirit spake in a language of unknown origin I became a stranger to my own reflection. The day love died within me was when I chose to end this torture. I reached out for a fleeting hand only to have it smacked away by your own. The same hand in my nightmarish, yet enlightening dream I placed the ring of forever on. those eyes I adore were a beacon to an ugly, yet beautiful future of togetherness, but that future was shrouded in mystery. Distant lovers we remain even though it was I who was in love. The day I sought forgiveness from love was when I realized that I never loved you at all.
