Nostalgia

Remember the good old days ?
Ice cream from an old wooden freezer ?
We'd turn the crank handle with watering mouth's
Boy ! that old crank was a wheezer !

But, that home-made ice cream was worth it all,
Banana, vanilla and peach,
On a hot, summer's day, it tasted so grand
Much better than store bought that's always on hand,

cause We'd all take our turn at the handle
and We'd laugh and frolic and sing
Yep ! That good, old home- cranked ice cream tasted better than anything !

Remember the nickel bar candy ? Baby Ruth and Hershey and Good Bar's ?
They were three time's the size they are today.
And-remember the huge pickle jar's ? with dill pickle's so large

You could suck one all day, so tangy and zesty and tart ?
And the jell-do-nuts and parched peanuts were dear to my childish heart.
Remember the hot-buttered popcorn You'd buy at the picture show ?

You'd munch it and crunch it while Duke Wayne and Hoppy would give you a warm, dreamy glow
A shoe shine cost only a nickel
and the best part of that was the sound-

The shine boy could really make that rag sing !
And ! How about the merry go round at the park ?
Sometimes, the rides would be free, You'd grab the brass ring on the carousel and whirl and twirl ! Ahh! He!

Nostalgia is a part of todays regime and the good old days are only a dream, but the memories made in they days gone by are sweet and they linger still.
The good old days the innocent age !

They still give my heart- strings a thrill !
