The Sandbox

just a meager young lad was I
eyes, face & hands

a moment with young Mary who I put mud in her hair
gone are those days I would frolic in a maze

A blast from the past having so much fun
with a hope that it would last

The ice cream man came up the rode
how the rain had poured back then

At the sandbox we each new are place
one played the pirate while another was a cop

Then onto the fort in the woods
we each appeared as our own little hood

Sought after excursion playing hop scotch & jacks
Baseball using the bases as stone

The sandbox was my home away from home
