Through a Pane's Eye...

Out in the summer’s sun, on a bordering fence,

a robin relaxed.  On the inner side

an unknown avian strolled through the grass.

After pecking here and there, it flew off;

no doubt the drum major for the tailing parade

who likewise pecked before taking flight.

A platoon of swallows landed, surveyed

and resumed their flight; a lone cardinal strutted

by—peered through the glass and flew away.

The fence’s parallel pea green flora swayed

in the summer breeze: a warm rhymical moment

canvased through the opened blinds of a pane’s eye.
