Summer has arrived,
dusty winds blow hot kisses;
clouds release their steam.
Birds perch on fences;
dogs sit in the shade and pant;
flowers bow their heads.
Peaceful is the pond.
Scents from flowers fill the air—
Mosquitoes lay eggs.
Brief summer breeze blows;
plants perform a quick ballet:
then the sun returns.
Through a window’s view,
squirrels play free in the grass:
a snake coils and waits.
Basking in the sun,
The bloated copperhead glowed;
An eagle swooped down.
