When my soul's doors are open wide
And all who look can see inside,
I dare not meet your eyes for fear
The world will read what's written there

For want of visual resting place,
When I don't dare look at your face,
I watch your hands and there I see
A part of you that's dear to me

Strong, yet gentle, nice to touch,
I love your hands, they say so much
About the woman who steers their fate
And who I've thought so much of late

Life's taught me things I'm glad I know
But wish I didn't, even so
And innocence is not my friend
Experience won't let her in

So it is, we'll never be
What we could be, you and me
But, wisdom can't control my all,
So, I watch your hands, and recall...

I'll soon recapture the message in my dream
