So many of us believe that our parents will eternally be there
to protect us from our mistakes and comfort our fears
There are some that have been fortunate to say,
"My mother is my best friend, "
but what happens to those who have lost their mothers and fathers at an early age ?
They carry no memories of what their founding creations were like on Earth as a friend, a neighbor, a church member or as a compassionate mother.
I, too, thought she would live forever to see me grow as an adult
Instead, I had to become all of these things before my time
My last talk with her was the day I stayed home from school to help around the house....
After cooking, cleaning and doing laundry, she looked at me and said
I must be dying.
At that moment, I ignored her remark and continued working
The next day she passed
It was not the way in which she walked, or the sass in her talk.
She strolled gracefully with her head tilted toward the sky
fighting endlessly for freedom.
She stretched out her hands to the poor;
she stretched forth her hands to the needy, a virtuous woman
Through all of the hard work over the past years, today I'm still
becoming an adult and my mother is smiling from heaven
So, what can I say to you with lining mothers and fathers.
Love & honor them
