Paint a Picture

Paint a picture in your mind of a person, who seems sad from loneliness,

Paint a picture of a person, who was once in love, but now falling apart from abuse,

Who is this picture of?

I see a picture of a person, who is full of dreams and wonder,

I painted a picture of what I think might be a strong person from the outside, but is feeling weak from the inside,

Paint a picture, I see colors of light that seem to be coming from a smile that is shining brightly as the sun,

Whom does this smile belong to?

I painted a picture of a person crying through the night,

Trying to find a way out,

Searching for a path that is right,

Paint a picture of a person trying to find a way back home,

Seeking to get out of the past,

So they can go on and live their life, free at last.

This is dedicated to a dear friend who was in an abusive relationship and marriage.

I just want to also dedicate this poem to anyone, woman or man, who has been physically or mentally abused in any way. My message to you is that you are not alone, and there are people out there who are dealing with the same thing you are going through at this very moment. Please know that in any situation that you are not comfortable in and you want to move on, believe me, there is always a way out. Do not stay in a place where you are not happy. Everyone deserves to be happy, as long as you take the Lord with everywhere you go. There are so many people out there, who are broken, and I am one of them.I have been abused, but there was a way out. Sometimes you have to take the initiative of helping yourself escape, and then helping each other and that is what I am doing now. Be you and become that strong woman or man that you know you can be, do not let that man that hit you, determine your strength, you are better than that. Do not let that woman who kicked you out the house determine your worth, be the man that you are, and take care of your home. Do not let that man take your love and confidence away that took your innocence away when he touched you. You shall overcome these many hardships.

They may have scarred you but you can always find a way to heal your scars and start over. I can at least say my friend got away.
