Who Knows?

Life is just a big question mark…

To my mom,

Who knows the truth behind a smile?

Who sees the pain inside each teardrop that falls from your eyes,

Who knows that you have sadness running through your veins, and you just don’t know how to let it out,

Who knows that you are crying of hurt in your heart?

Who knows that you think you don’t belong in this world,

Who knows that you don’t think great of yourself and you feel like you should be doing better, but the world just keeps knocking you down,

Who knows that you just feel like telling the whole world to, “Shut up?”

Who knows that you just want to tell a loved one what is wrong, but you don’t know where to start,

Who knows that you are sorry for all your wrong and you just want them to leave you alone,

But that’s right who knows?

Only my God above who KNOWS me best.

What inspired me to write this?

I used to struggle with myself and I had really low self- esteem.

I strongly disliked the way I looked, and looking in the mirror could be very painful to me, because I just thought I was ugly. People were always mean and I was shy. I used to always walk with my head down, never looked at people in the face when I talked. Nevertheless, over a period of time, I had grown to love myself because if I did not ever love me, then who would in the future?  People will always talk about you, and get you down, but it is up to you, how you receive and perceive it.  You just have to keep your head up and recognize that you hold your beauty and whatever that person is holding, let them just do that.

Note to self: Be strong, wise, and remorseful, compliment yourself, and embrace your beauty.

Another special lady who I loved dearly was the late Patsy Whitaker, better known as my Aunt Patsy, she always told me to keep my head up and not worry about what people say because I was beautiful and talented and that I was going to make it to the big screens one day. I used to whine to her about all my problems but she always straightened me out and encouraged me to keep going. In fact, I have to keep going although she is not here physically, she will always remain in my heart, because after she passed, I thought what is the point of even trying if I cannot stop by her house and tell her about my accomplishments? BUT that encouraged me more because if she was here, she would not allow that type of attitude from me.
