I couldn't wait till nightfall
I was going to catch a firefly
I wanted a flying star
Real stars were just too far

I just knew this mission was easy
I grab my mason jar ran to the park
Watching the sun runaway as it became dark

I didn't know catching a firefly
Was training me about life
You can't  just stand in one spot
You have to find the right spot and wait for your shot

Once one spark you better think fast
You have to make decision on how many to grab
Or which one is worth having

It was like they were manipulating my eyes
I thought I cupped  one
I felt the setback ,the failure ,the possibility
Of catching a firefly was draining

I thought about quitting several  times
So I just held my jar I took my time
Finally !! I caught a firefly

I was excited I caught my firefly
Watching it light the jar .......... BUT
I forgot to add holes to my top

I watched it suffered not knowing its suffering
It wasn't getting any air ..
I didn't know u had to put holes in it
I was unprepared

By the end of the night
The firefly had no light
It died

I killed a firefly
