A visit from my guitarist friend
Satisfactorily completed
A crisp Saturday evening.
Giving into the resistance to play,
His fingers strum my father’s
Antique Gibson once again
As I prepare tomorrow’s dinner.
Woes and worries took the night off
Despite all that was going on as
Melodic tunes embrace us
Like a long lost old friend.
A favorite of all time of mine
The theme music to the 70s tv show
Barney Miller was my selection.
Though not a bass guitar
It still fulfilled its purpose.
A front row seat to a private show
At the Robbin’s Nest,
Better known as home
His next selections were
Finders keepers loses weepers,
All this love by Debarge and then
A melody of his own.
It’s amazing how music
Works it’s way through to you.
It changes your thought process
As the notes shush your speech,
It calms and lightens your heart
As it gently embraces you and
Rests comfortably in your soul.
Music.
The only entity that’s allowed
To enter your soul without permission.
Can you dig it?
