TO JAZZ, JIVE, AND JAM IN THE PROMISE LAND
(For Langston Hughes, Deferred Dreams and Raisins…)

PROLOGUE:

Give me liberty
or death!…Shouted the black man.
He died in the streets…

Pinnacles are often reached
By deceptions…Accompanied
By veiled phrases of praise;

Near Native American extinction—Manifest Destiny…
Slavery…A Peculiar Institution; Segregation…Landmark
Legislation…Racism…Philosophy of power…KKK;

Now…The New Jim Crow…Touting roadblocks
Along the dirt road leading From Slavery To Freedom…
Veiled under the misnomer, United Shades of America!

EPILOGUE:

These thoughts have been revealed unto Me;
I now share them with You…We…The Interlude.
Contemplate them in an anti-somber mood…
Deice the soul… crop wisdom from The Learning Tree.

Listen…deferment has never been permanent…
Look where Jesus went…Just a little while he spent...
When came time for Heavenly Insurrection…
Great day in the morning!...The Resurrection!

Many thanks, love_supreme. You always seem to find the clanging echoes I've screamed so many moons ago. I'm honored. Peace and Love.
