On A Mid-Summer Night

CATEGORY

just different

Without belching
or hiccupping misty smoke,
the waiting sea
swallowed the setting sun;

The moon rose
and took her mirror-ball station
as the sky sprinkled its self
with twinkling stars.

Terrestrially,
fireflies soared
to and fro nightshades,
playing Marco Pollo:
the whistling winds
taunting both;

In their usual stoic pose,
with big bulging blue eyes,
sager owls kept watch over
all of nature's sharing.
