The faith that they gave us
Groomed and maintained us
Tortured and maimed us
Made us who we are

Built the bond that ties us
Connects and binds us
Became just and thus love
We’ve felt from afar

No matter the continent
Accident or intent
The motherland’s within it
Our blood bears those scars

That faith was there before that book
That belief was lept  before that  look
And chickens roosting have them shook
We only pray heads to the stars

That family we feel all oppressors have feared
We have taken the worst and have endeared
Those blessing raised our faith has reared
Our praise for our dear departed

The faith I return to believe again
The land of my people where life began
Devout I am the son of man
In Africa where we all started

You delivered this beautifully; it is fair to say the only way we could have bought into the religion that holds up captive even to this day is we knew faith long before it was, spread throughout the world. Well said and eye-opening. Peace
