The Achievement Gap Blues
Hey, people, have you heard?
there’s a blues in the schools
An undertone of injustice
In the tune of standards and rules
There’s a blues in the schools
Leaving the best teachers baffled
Lessons change, it stays the same
Regardless of hooks and scaffolds
For some reason, it seems
Some just can’t achieve
A gap in the soul of our system
A black hole, so to speak
Standardized testing
Standard deviations
Standards of living
Standardized nation
But...
There’s a blues in the schools
Oh, is that a fact?
Well, what should we do?
The board is still out on that
